Phillip Lillehagen is a teaching Principal at Port Macquarie Adventist School. He loves mathematics and is a life-long learner. Phillip has a passion for science which is where he started his tertiary studies, but ended up graduating as a Primary Educator. After initially starting at PMAS as a classroom teacher, he stepped up to the role of teaching Principal. During this time, the school has grown from 28 students to 140 students currrently from Pre K to Year 6.
Emily Bullus is the Deputy Principal at Port Macquarie Adventist School and also assists with Learning Leadership. Emily is currently teaching a grade 5/6 class, but has taught Grades 1 to 4 in her 5+ years at the school. Emily has been gradually implementing hands on learning in her classrooms over the past 4 years. She is passionate about learning and loves to see her students succeed.

Our Mathematics story. A candid look into a small Pre K - 6 school that is going hands-on and text book free. We will share our experience through the lenses of our Professional Learning Community, namely, the Principal, the Leadership Team, and our teachers. We will discuss the hurdles experienced and how we have overcome them. We will keep it fast paced and informative with the opportunity for questions to be asked.
