Katrina Verinder is currently the Relieving Principal at Denistone East Public School, where she is a substantive Deputy Principal. She has been working within the school for the past three years and has spent many years as a classroom teacher and Assistant Principal working in South Western Sydney and Western Sydney Regions. Katrina has worked in Educational Services, relieving as a Curriculum Advisor where she worked specially with schools to implement the new NSW syllabus documents and provided ongoing professional development across the Macquarie Park area. Katrina is a reflective practitioner and believes that by building positive partnerships within the school and with the parent community, successful outcomes for students can be achieved and certainly exceed expectation.

Our Mathematics Journey. A brief overview of a targeted approach to changing teaching practice in mathematics across a large K-6 school. The focus was to improve student learning outcomes and engage and motive students to question and investigate, as well as mentor and provide in depth professional learning for staff. The discussion will cover how we engaged staff, students and the parent community in our changing approach. This session will be informative and enable questions to be asked.
